About Us

At Bumbo, Everything Begins with Family

For over 20 years, Bumbo has been dedicated to creating products that make parenting moments easier and more joyful. Our mission is simple: to design thoughtful, dependable baby gear that supports children’s development and gives parents peace of mind.

Every product we create starts with feedback from parents and is developed in partnership with pediatric specialists and orthopedic surgeons. This ensures that each design promotes healthy posture, comfort, and confidence—because parents deserve peace of mind, and children deserve the best start possible.

Thank you for trusting us with your precious little ones. We’re honored to be part of your family’s journey and look forward to growing with you.

Where It All Began

A curious grandson and an engineer grandfather—that’s where the Bumbo story began. In 1996, a loving grandfather noticed his grandson struggling to sit upright and engage with the world around him. Inspired to help, he created the first Bumbo Floor Seat, a simple yet revolutionary design that gave babies the support they needed to explore their surroundings.

What started as a family invention has grown into a global brand, trusted by parents for over two decades. Today, Bumbo continues to innovate while staying true to its roots of care, quality, and family-first values.

Frequently asked questions

Why Bumbo?

Bumbo has been in the US market for more than 20 years and remains a category leader, with millions of customers trusting us to support their growing families' needs. We're backed by, and work in partnership with, orthopedic spine specialists who know what matters most in a child's development is their engagement with the world around them – we’re honored to continue bringing families and communities together in little, meaningful ways. Globally, the brand is embarking on its 30th year and in that time, we’ve seen many of you grow from Bumbo babies to Bumbo parents – a tradition of excellence, built on trust, for the betterment and of you and yours. We’re glad you’re here!

How do I know which seat is right for my baby?

Bumbo has a range of seats that are designed to meet various needs. Any of our floor seats can be used from approximately 3 months, once the child can support their own head. The Original Floor Seat is the snug option, which provides the most support for a child when they’re first learning to sit. The Floor Seat PLUS+ provides a similar level of support but has 34% more legroom. The Floor Seat Lite has similar contouring and the larger leg holes but is made from high quality plastic instead of soft foam. Once a child can sit upright unassisted and is ready to engage a bit more, they can graduate to the Multi Seat. The 3-in-1 floor to booster seat provides more stability and freedom of movement and has a handful of grow-with-me features, like height adjustment and foam insert stowage for more seating space. It can be used from 6 months to 3 years.

Is the Bumbo seat good for my baby?

Yes. We’ve been helping parents and littles for over 20 years – and we’ve got millions of happy and healthy customers as a result! Our design process involves consultations with physicians and orthopedic surgeons, and we’ve modified our assortment over the years to offer a range of products that meet varying needs. However, there is a lot of misinformation you can find about our seats, often from competitors and influencers, and we understand that can be unsettling. The recommendation from experts in the field is that children should not be in any kind of seat or other device that keeps them contained for an extended period of time, regardless of that product's design or claimed benefits. Children want to wiggle around and should be doing so as often as possible in their early years. Core and hip development are most influenced by activity outside of any seat or container. Our seats are intended to be used occasionally, in spurts of time, when parents and caregivers need a little extra support. Rest assured, at Bumbo, the child’s safety and the parent/caregiver’s peace of mind are our top priority.

What is the recommended amount of time that a child should stay in a Bumbo seat?

Our seat(s) are designed with consideration for the various stages of seating, to promote healthy posture and hip position and encourage playtime for social interaction and hand-eye coordination.  Experts in the field know what matters most in a child’s musculoskeletal development is the activity outside of any seat, so our seats are intended to be used when parents and caregivers need a little extra support and time (limited but meaningful time for caregiver and child alike).

What materials are Bumbo products made of?

All our soft foam products are made of high-quality polyurethane foam. Plastic parts are made with polypropylene, ABS and TPE. The materials are safe for children to use, products meet all required ASTM standards and are free of BPA, PVC, phthalates, latex, flame retardants and lead.

How do I clean my Bumbo products?

All Bumbo products are wipeable. We recommend using a damp, soapy cloth to clean and disinfect after use. DO NOT submerge any of the foam products or the Multi Seat tray in water (including putting the product under running water) as it will damage the product. The plastic trays are NOT dishwasher safe.

Where is the tray for my Multi Seat?

The Multi Seat tray stows in the back of the seat and can be removed/attached with one hand.

What is the age recommendation for…

  • The Changing Pad can be used from birth to 18 months, at a maximum weight of 30 lbs.

Floor Seat/Floor Seat Lite/Floor Seat PLUS+?

  • The age recommendation for the Bumbo floor seats (the original Floor Seat, the Floor Seat Lite, or the Floor Seat PLUS+) is 3-12 months. Babies develop differently, so this will not be true for every child. It is recommended that you don’t start using the seats until your baby can support their own head. Once the child has back control and wants to wiggle around a bit more, we recommend moving to the Multi Seat for both comfort and safety.

Can I use my seat on a raised surface like the counter or the table?

No. Please read through the instruction leaflets that come with your product. The Floor Seat, Floor Seat PLUS+ and Floor Seat Lite should only be used on a flat-surfaced floor. Use on the counter, or any raised surface, can pose a serious risk of injury to your child. The Multi Seat can be used on the floor or secured to a standard adult chair with the included belts. It should not be used on any other raised surface, or it can pose a serious risk of injury to your child.

Can I use the seat(s) in the bath?

No. Please read the instruction manuals carefully. None of our products are designed to be used in a bath. The product will be damaged if submerged in water. Use in a bath, or in any other water, can pose serious risk of injury to your child.

How do I attach the tray to the Floor Seat or Floor Seat PLUS+?

To start, attach the stem to the tray (you should hear a click). Once these two pieces have been joined, they cannot be separated. Secure the child in the seat and then position the center foam pommel inside the slot on the underside of the tray. Once joined, slightly lift the front of the seat to engage the tray clip at the base. It will be a snug fit for extra security (if you struggle to attach the tray, apply pressure to the tray where it meets the foam at the center top).  Always detach the tray before removing your baby from the seat.

How do I attach the tray to the Floor Seat Lite?

Ensure the clips are secured to the tray (these cannot be removed once installed) before inserting them into the slots on the sides of the seat. To remove the tray, press the buttons on the clips and pull upward. Always detach the tray before removing your baby from the seat.

How do I attach the tray to Multi Seat?

The Multi Seat offers single-handed tray attachment and removal – just engage the latch and align with slots for the tray (when in use) or seat base (when stowed). Re-engage the latch to detach. Always detach the tray before removing your baby from the seat.

Can I remove the restraint belt from my Bumbo product(s)?

Please do not remove any of the belts on our products. You can find proper use instructions in each of the product manuals, and restraints should always be used. Replacement belts are available if needed.
